BARTÓK Violin Concerto No. 1

BRUCKNER Symphony No. 7 in E Major, WAB 107

Music Director of the New York Philharmonic and Director of Conducting and Orchestra Studies at Juilliard, Alan Gilbert leads the Juilliard Orchestra in their only Carnegie Hall performance of the season. The program features Bela Bartók's romantic first violin concerto, and Anton Bruckner's seventh symphony, which upon programming, Maestro Gilbert remarked, "Bruckner takes the symphonic form and luxuriates in it. He creates expanses of sound and deals with time in a very, very noble way. And for that to really work, the sound itself has to be passionate and colorful and committed from beginning to end"
