Queens native Camille A. Brown is the artistic director of her own company, and was chosen by Robert Battle of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to choreograph students in their training program last season. She is a winner of Princess Grace Award in Choreography, the 2012 Mariam McGlone Emerging
Choreographer Award, a 2012 City College of New York Women and Culture Award, and a nominee of a Bessie Award and Best Choreography Award of the Black Theater Arts Alliance.
Choreographer Emery LeCrone was recently honored by an inaugural New York City Center fellowship for choreographic research and was featured on New York City Center's annual Fall for Dance festival. In 2011, she was commissioned to create a new work for the Guggenheim Museum's acclaimed Works and Process performing arts series. Additionally this season, Ms. LeCrone was commissioned by the New York City Ballet to create a new work as part of their annual New York Choreographic Institute.
Recipient of the 2006 Choo-San Goh Award for choreography, Susan Shields is a principal dancer from the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company and current professor at George Mason University. She has performed nationally and internationally, most recently as a member of Mikhail Baryshnikov's White Oak Dance Project, and was partnered by Baryshnikov in Mark Morris' acclaimed work The Argument. She has also performed with the Mark Morris Dance Group in The Hard Nut.
One of Czechoslovakia’s most successful choreographer/dancers Jarek Cemerek works with Juilliard’s fourth-year dancers. His dances have been performed in his native country and abroad, including the 2011 Sadler’s Wells premiere of Void. Selected from among 180 auditioning choreographers, he hand-tailored that work for the male dance company Balletboyz. Also in 2011, he received awards for Dance Piece of the Year and as Dancer of the Year at the Czech Dance Platforms in Prague.
